Meet Vicky👋

This week we are chatting to Vicky, a local Tunbridge Wells mum who shares her favourite places around town and the little things that help make mum life easier.

Introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Vicky. I’m a mum to a toddler, step-mum to a teenage daughter, and founder of Moon Bear Sleep Consultancy here in Tunbridge Wells. We moved from London about 4 years ago and absolutely love it. It’s amazing having the countryside, cafes, restaurants and parks right on our doorstep. You’ll usually find me with a coffee and cake, and maybe doing the odd exercise class on a good week to try and balance things out! When my little boy arrived, I finally understood why people say motherhood is the hardest job in the world, especially when you’re not sleeping. Like so many parents, I went through a phase of feeling completely exhausted and wondering why my baby just wouldn’t sleep the way everyone said they should. That sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole learning about how baby sleep actually works. What started as trying to get more sleep in our own house turned into something I became really passionate about, and I eventually trained as a sleep consultant so I could help other tired families too.

Now I support parents with things like night waking, bedtime battles and tricky naps, because everything feels so much easier when everyone’s had some sleep!

Favourite local business and why?

My son and I absolutely love Kidsbury. It’s such a lovely spot to play and enjoy the cafe, and the atmosphere is always so welcoming. As a mum, I really appreciate places where you can turn up with a buggy and a noisy toddler and still feel relaxed!

And if I can choose two, I also love Even Flow for delicious coffee, great food and even some toys to keep the little ones entertained.

Favourite hidden gem in Tunbridge Wells

I love all the little walks and green spaces around Tunbridge Wells, there are so many lovely spots that feel like a bit of a hidden gem when you stumble across them. My current favourite is Kingdom, you can’t beat the views!

Getting outside for some fresh air always lifts my mood, and it’s such an easy way to break up the day with a toddler too.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Listening to nostalgic music and dancing around the kitchen, when I’m allowed a break from nursery rhymes that is, Destiny’s Child anyone? (*Geri here - Oh, hello bestie👋🏼)

Also, an early night when I can get one. I spend so much time talking about sleep that I try to take my own advice too!

Best mum hack

Natural daylight helps regulate little ones’ body clocks, which can make naps and bedtimes easier later in the day, and it definitely helps my mood too!

Even just 10 to 15 minutes of fresh air in the morning can make a difference. Simple, but really effective.
