Meet Beth👋

This week we are chatting to Beth, a local Tunbridge Wells mum who shares her favourite places around town and the little things that help make mum life easier.
Introduce yourself
Hi, I'm Beth from @FreshAirThinking.
I've lived in Tunbridge Wells since 2008, but grew up in Crowborough. I live with my husband and 2 children, Elodie 9 and Ezra 6.
I have been in the confidence business for nearly 20 years now. Initially this took the form of organising gap years and career breaks, before taking my sales experiences and transferring it to helping organisations implement a coaching culture within their teams. When my daughter was 2 I decided I wanted to work for myself and took my coaching diploma in 2019, and since then I haven't looked back.
I now run training sessionsand use coaching support for leaders, managers and their sales or customer service teams. I also love working with fellow freelancers or individuals looks to make decisions about what to do next with their career.
I love to get creative and curious with my work and to use fun activities and/or take it outdoors when I can, hence the name Fresh Air Thinking.
Getting to know new people is one of my favourtie things which is why I have created Wander Women, a regular netwalk where we explore a different theme each time to encourage great conversations. I also run @business_book_club_twells with @clareconnolly.interiors to help us get through our non-fiction to be read piles.
Favourite local business and why?
This is a tough one, as there are so many amazing ones to choose from. However, I am going to choose my sister Carrie and her brand new venture @snuggle_and_stroll. I am so proud to see Carrie take her love of animals and create her own business, after years of being a Midwife and working all the hours, it is great that she can create something to better fit around family life.
Favourite hidden gem in Tunbridge Wells
I am not sure how hidden this is, but I am in a Ukulele band called TWUNT, which stands for Tunbridge Wells Ukulele Night Thing. We practise every other Monday at The Allotment and it is open to everyone. It is so much fun, there is something so joyful about a load of people playing and singing together. You can keep an eye out for our gigs on our website or just come to the pub and have a drink while we play.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
When it comes to TV MAFS, Greys Anatomy, Murder She Wrote.
For a personal treat I love getting a Lash Lift and Tint from Ruth @Littlepinksalon.
Best mum hack
Normalising mistakes. My daughter was really struggling when she first started school if she couldn't do something straight away. After a chat with her teacher who advised getting things wrong on purpose at home, like putting shes on the wrong feet, or making speeling mistakes, we noticed a big shift in how the kids deal with getting things wrong. Obviously they still have their moments when making mistakes, we all do, but generally they don't see them as such a big deal and will just get straight back into trying again.
