Claudia's Soft Play

This week on Small Business Saturday, we're shining the spotlight on Claudia, the wonderful owner of Claudia's Soft Play – a much-loved space at the heart of our local community.

Over the years, Claudia has created so much more than a soft play. She's built a welcoming place where little ones can play, friendships are made, and families return time and time again to create special memories. We're proud to celebrate the passion and care behind one of Tunbridge Wells' favourite family destinations.

Tell us about your journey from the business idea to launching the business. 

I was offered the opportunity to open a cafe, as part of the softplay area, when the gym of newly opening up. I loved decorating and setting up the area, so that it would be perfect for my customers and their little ones, especially hand decorating the counter over several months with Lego, and setting up a toy box for the children to make it more than your normal softplay. I love people and I love little ones especially. They make my day every day. 

What's been your biggest achievement since starting your business?

The friends that I created and they have now become family. Some of newborns I helped to look after are now 6 years old and they are in school. It’s been so lovely watching them grow up and staying in touch because they have such warm memories of playing here. My biggest achievement of starting this business has got to be the love I have received from all my wonderful customers. 

What inspired you to start the business?

The people of Tunbridge Wells and the love I received in my previous business, and what I still receive today. 

What does the future look like?

What message would you like to send to our community of small business owners?

It is all about supporting each other and sharing information and knowledge!
