This Small Business Saturday, I’m celebrating a small business built on passion, tradition and a little bit of madness (their words, not mine! 😂).

From making fresh pasta from scratch to staying true to authentic Italian recipes, their goal has always been simple — to bring the real taste of Italy to Tunbridge Wells.

A very warm welcome to Andrea and Dominika - the power couple behind the cutest italian spot in town @la_spiga_tunbridge_wells. Enjoy!🤍

Tell us about your journey from the business idea to launching the business.

Launching La Spiga was a difficult but determined journey built on a dream. Andrea, born and raised in Italy, grew up in the kitchen alongside his father, learning the respect for simple, honest ingredients. That passion guided every step, turning a lifelong dream into our small restaurant in Tunbridge Wells.

What's been your biggest achievement since starting your business?

Honestly, our biggest achievement is that we’re still together! 😄 Living — and working — with an Italian is a real challenge, but it’s also what fills La Spiga with heart, passion, and a lot of laughter.

What inspired you to start the business?

A bit of madness inspired us 😂 but mostly the desire to show true Italian tradition. We make our own pasta, cook everything from scratch, and you won’t find ‘pomodoro’ or ‘spaghetti bolognaise’ on our menu. Italian cuisine is far richer than people imagine, and we wanted to share that authenticity.

What does the future look like? Any events or news we should keep an eye for?

We’re excited for the future — we’re currently working on packaging our fresh pasta, so people will soon be able to pop in, grab it, and enjoy La Spiga’s house-made pasta at home.

What message would you like to send to our community of small business owners?

Running a small business is a marathon. It’s not easy, but the satisfaction is incredible. Stay patient, keep pushing, and celebrate every small win along the way.
