Meet Alyssia, our TW Mum of the Week!
A former film industry professional turned Pilates instructor and holistic practitioner, Alyssia is the founder of Core Atelier - a 1:1 Pilates studio in Rusthall, where she helps others move with confidence, build strength and find freedom from pain after discovering the transformative power of movement and breath on her own journey into motherhood.
Introduce yourself
Hi im Alyssia, I am a Pilates instructor and holistic practitioner I just opened up Core Atelier a 1:1 pilates studio in Rusthall in Botanica Health. It’s a space I have really manifested into being. I used to work in the film industry but after becoming a mother I found I could not move the way I used to and was in pain a lot of the day and night.  I decided to retrain and discovered ways of moving and breathing that allowed me to get out of pain and strengthen my whole body. Which is now what I teach all my clients.Â
Favourite local business and why?
Botanica Health where I am based is my favourite local business. It has always been the place I go to for herbal remedies for myself and my family and to just chat about foraging and the human body. It has always felt like a sanctuary full of likeminded people. And now I have my studio there it feels very much like a second family and I feel very supported.
Favourite hidden gem in Tunbridge Wells
It has to be hidden gems (plural). Not sure where I love more, Halstead Bakery on Camden Road or @one in town. I love the homeware from @one and Sabine is the nicest lady. Everything you get from Halstead is just so different and delicious. Avneet and Pierre are the nicest people and their kombucha is out of this world. They also make a chocolate chip cookies feel like a wholesome healthy snack. Â
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Jam and elixirs making. I absolutely love making jam and yummy alcoholic infusions for cocktails. I don’t really drink much but I love making them as gifts. Im in my happy place when making yummy things out of the amazing plants I am lucky to have foraged. I am very much a kid at heart and it turns every walk into a treasure hunt for myself and the family.Â
Best mum hack
Keychain tweezers. Cannot leave the house without them and always regret it. When I do as someone will invariably get a splinter.Â
